AAPOR Pollsters to Meet in Nashville.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2003

Ever wondered where pollsters learn their craft, polish their skills - and even counter a critic's shot now and again?

Many of the nation's leading polling experts will be gathering in Nashville, TN, May 15-18, for the 58th Annual Conference of the American Association American Association refers to one of the following professional baseball leagues:
  • American Association (19th century), active from 1882 to 1891.
  • American Association (20th century), active from 1902 to 1962 and 1969 to 1997.
 of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR AAPOR American Association for Public Opinion Research ).

AAPOR is the nation's premier association of public opinion, public policy and social research professionals. The organization's almost 1,800 members include academic, commercial, media, and government researchers.

The conference, at the Nashville Sheraton Music City Hotel, will address major issues facing the profession, including:

-- How did the pre-election polls really do in 2002? Are falling

response rates, cell phones, telezappers and the like really

threatening their accuracy? What's in store for us in 2004?

-- How does the Bush presidency compare to others?

-- What's the impact of the Internet on American life?

-- How does the American public respond to military actions

abroad?

The conference will feature a plenary session with Dr. Richard Petty, distinguished university professor of psychology at the Ohio State University Ohio State University, main campus at Columbus; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1870, opened 1873 as Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College, renamed 1878. There are also campuses at Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark. , one of the world's leading authorities on attitude formation.
