AAIS REDUCES GTE OPERATIONAL COSTS BY AN ESTIMATED $70 MILLION.
The Assignment, Activation, Inventory Services (AAIS) system handles more than 20 million customers and 40,000 users, and is expected to reduce GTE operational costs by an estimated $70 million annually, allowing the company to work with customers to amend their telecommunications services in real-time.
The Informix system installation also provides Web integration that distributes information across corporate intranets and extranets to employees and customers, and delivers flexibility for future GTE e-commerce applications.
"Informix has solved key problems, allowing us to migrate from a legacy mainframe and open our data repository to make the data more readily accessible. The new GTE system runs on a Sun UE 10000 platform and will handle more than 80,000 daily service orders and provide instant provisioning, automated assignment and activation while the customer is online. GTE anticipates increased customer satisfaction and retention and a quick migration path to new network technologies, products and services.
