AAC & U appoints new senior scholar and three new fellows.Dr. L. Lee Knefelkamp is now serving as an AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) An audio compression technology that is part of the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standards. AAC, especially MPEG-4 AAC, provides greater compression and better sound quality than MP3, which also came out of the MPEG standard. & U senior scholar. A professor of education and psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University Teachers College, Columbia University (sometimes referred to simply as Teachers College; also referred to as Teachers College of Columbia University or the Columbia University Graduate School of Education , Knefelkamp will help AAC & U engage campus faculty and academic leaders with the latest research and practice on student intellectual and ethical development. Dr. Knefelkamp has served as an advisor to several AAC & U initiatives, including Greater Expectations and, most recently, Educating for Personal and Social Responsibility. AAC & U has also recently appointed three new senior fellows: Dr. Stephen Bowen Stephen Bowen is the current Dean and CEO of Oxford College of Emory University. Bowen received his bachelor's degree in 1971 from Depauw University, followed two years later by an M.A. from Indiana University. He earned his Ph.D. , former provost and current faculty member in biology at Bucknell University; Dr. Deborah DeZure, director of faculty and organizational development and senior advisory to the provost at Michigan State University Michigan State University, at East Lansing; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855. It opened in 1857 as Michigan Agricultural College, the first state agricultural college. ; and Dr. Elizabeth Minnich, former faculty member and academic administrator at such institutions as The New School, Sarah Lawrence College Sarah Lawrence College, at Bronxville, N.Y.; primarily for women; chartered 1926, opened 1928 as Sarah Lawrence College for Women; renamed 1947. It is noted for its creative arts program. , Hollins College, Barnard College, and The Union Institute. |
