AAA Texas Donates to American Red Cross Chapters in Houston & Dallas Extends Helping Hand to Evacuees from Louisiana, Mississippi & Alabama.

HOUSTON -- AAA Texas is donating $20,000 to the American Red Cross chapters in Houston and Dallas. These areas have received the largest number of evacuees from the Gulf Coast region devastated by Hurricane Katrina last week.

"As the true scope of Hurricane Katrina's devastation of the Gulf Coast unfolds, many of our employees have expressed a strong desire to provide assistance to those who are in such need," said Mark Bell, general manager of AAA Texas. "We've been helping AAA Louisiana members who have been coming into our district offices seeking maps, accommodations, rental vehicles, gas buying questions and assistance in determining if they can get back home. We are providing these member services to evacuees free of charge."

Hurricane Katrina is expected to be the worst natural disaster in U.S. history in terms of death toll and cost. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Red Cross is launching one of its largest responses ever to a national disaster. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. The American Red Cross responds to disasters 24-hours a day, 365-days a week.
