The Antelope Valley
 Youth Probation probation, method by which the punishment of a convicted offender is conditionally suspended. The offender must remain in the community and under the supervision of a probation officer, who is usually a court-appointed official.  Department has moved into a home of its own at 321 E. The three units that comprise Juvenile Probation are now under one roof. The Supervision and Investigation Unit, run by Gary Lippman, moved from the Lancaster courthouse; the Lancaster and Palmdale offices of Prevention Services, run by Robert Laich and Rachel Rodriguez, respectively, transferred from Mira Loma.

``Probation officers need their own space,'' Laich said. ``You need space to work.''

The juvenile operation also will be separate from the Adult Probation Department, which will remain in the Lancaster Courthouse at 1110 W. Ave. J.

The supervision unit evaluates each case, while Prevention Services units oversee officers placed at each campus in the Antelope Valley Union High School District The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County.

The district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale
 so students on probation can check in.

Officials said the new proximity of the units will help them better serve their 1,200 clients.

``It's nice, because before we were seven miles apart,'' Laich said. ``Now we're all together. And we can just walk across the hall.''
