For the third straight year, the Antelopes face Saugus in the quarterfinals. The Antelopes, winners of the past two, are hoping the third time won't be the charm.

Unlike the previous two seasons, Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
(8-2) doesn't have the overall team speed to overwhelm Saugus (6-5). Take away Tony Walker and the matchup looks pretty even.

Antelope Valley has the quickness, Saugus has the size.

``All the teams left at this point can beat any team on any given night,'' said Antelope Valley coach Brent Newcomb. ``Can you keep them on a long field? Can you avoid dumb penalties? Is the kicking game sound? All those things really come into play now.''

Both teams can pass and run, with Saugus throwing behind Chris Kobe (79-of-146, 1,191 yards, seven TDs, nine interceptions) and running with Mark Pecaro (840 yards, 12 TDs, 4.3 yards per carry), and Antelope Valley depending on quarterback Justin Mobley (54-of-99, 719, seven TDs, two interceptions) and running back Walker (972, 16 TDS, 5.8 yards per carry).

What the game could come down to is the two defenses. Antelope Valley is second in the area at 222.3 yards allowed per game, while Saugus ranks 11th at 258.3.

The Centurions are coming off a 21-13 win over top-seeded Peninsula, but the question remains: Will the team carry it over or suffer a letdown letdown
