But that doesn't mean they'll be able to stop it.

Antelope Valley opened its season by rushing for 183 yards and limiting the Drillers to 194 yards of offense in an 18-3 victory at Griffith Field.

``Teams try to stop it, but we've got so many options, that's why they call it the option, and if they key on stopping me, we've got a quarterback and a fullback who can make plays and they both did,'' said senior running back Kreig Peters, who finished with a game-high 98 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown.

It was the second consecutive year A.V. has defeated Bakersfield, the winningest football program in state history with 32 sectional sec·tion·al

The Drillers (1-1) still lead the series 18-10, but the victory was especially sweet for A.V.'s senior class, which lost 43-0 to Bakersfield in 2001.

Antelope Valley controlled the game from the beginning. The Lopes took six minutes to go 85 yards in 15 plays, capped by Mychal Bogan's 1-yard quarterback keeper Keeper may mean:

Again, the Antelopes failed on a 2-point conversion attempt, and the Drillers made it 12-3 at the half on Gordan Cooper's 23-yard field goal as time expired.

Peters made it 18-3 with a 25-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter as he broke four tackles and carried two defenders into the end zone.

``Our seniors were real fired up for this game and we fed off their energy,'' said Wilson, who finished with 46 yards on 10 carries. ``We lost Johnny (Walker, the two-time Golden League MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994.
