part was understandable - Crenshaw played almost every down on offense and defense. He only had 18 carries but many of his yards came on tough, inside runs during which he had to break multiple tackles.

The relief part takes a little more explanation.

For as long as anyone can remember, Crenshaw has been the kind of athlete for which coaches yearn. Teammates just shake their heads and grin, thankful thank·ful

Crenshaw showed flashes of his enormous potential as a sophomore last season. He scored six touchdowns and intercepted five passes playing as a receiver/defensive back in Antelope antelope, name applied to a large number of hoofed, ruminant mammals of the cattle family (Bovidae), which also includes the sheep and goats. The North American pronghorn is sometimes called an antelope, but belongs to a separate, related family (Antilocapridae).  Valley's run-oriented offense. But he never had a breakout game like Friday's.

With a new coaching staff in place, and All-Area running back Kreig Peters (1,154 yards, 20 touchdowns) graduated and playing at Fresno State, Crenshaw finally has become the focal point focal point

 of the offense.

``I've been waiting for that game for a long time,'' Crenshaw said. ``A lot of players have to go through a year like I did. (Former Antelope Valley star quarterback) Johnny Walker had to play receiver when he was a sophomore, and look what he was able to do once he moved to quarterback.

``Last year helped me and made me a better player, just watching it and seeing how the game works. I learned a lot. ... Everybody was waiting for me to get the ball more and do more, though. So that's another reason I wanted to play like I did (Friday night) - to show all the doubters out there what I can do.''

Crenshaw's breakout performance actually started last spring, during track season when he posted several state-leading marks early and finish second in the state long jump competition with a jump of 23 feet, 4 3/4 inches.

This summer, he took a week off to rest from nonstop HP's brand name for its fault-tolerant servers, which range in size from four CPUs to 4,000 CPUs. The NonStop line was created by Tandem Computers, which was acquired by Compaq, which later became part of HP.  athletic competition, as he participated in football, basketball and track.

Antelope Valley first-year coach Jon Fleming Flem·ing , Sir Alexander 1881-1955.

British bacteriologist who discovered penicillin in 1928. He shared a 1945 Nobel Prize for this achievement.
said hard work in the weight room is a key to Crenshaw being poised for a big season this year.

``Most of his runs, he was breaking multiple tackles on,'' Fleming said. ``You could tell all of his work in the weight room was paying off. ... Next year, you'll see it even more because he's going to be lifting year-round. He didn't lift during track season last year, but we're going to have him do that this year and he's going to be a lot stronger.''
