Jene Jansen, 56, resigned his part-time post as a Wyoming state representative and quit his job as transportation supervisor for the state's largest school district to become chief executive officer of the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. Jansen starts today supervising the agency whose buses take youngsters to and from schools in the Antelope Valley Union High, Keppel Union, Lancaster, and Westside Union school districts. Other local school districts run their own buses. A joint-powers agency operated by the four districts, the bus agency has an annual budget of $9.6 million, 184 employees, and a fleet of 178 buses that daily carry more than 6,300 students. Jansen is replacing Ken McCoy, who is retiring after 14 years heading the bus agency. Jansen has a two-year contract that will pay $85,000 annually, down from McCoy's salary of $90,227. AVSTA board members said Jansen's salary was lower for a number of reasons. ``Mr. Jansen is unproven unproven Dubious, nonscientific, not proven, quack, questionable, unscientific adjective Relating to that which has not been validated by reproducible experiments or other scientific methods for determining effect or efficacy to this agency. If we give a large salary it costs the districts more money, and the districts felt it was a competitive salary,'' said Alan Arjo, board president and Keppel's director of business services. ``Given Mr. Jansen's ability to grow with the JPA JPA Java Persistence API JPA Joint Project Agreement (Department of Commerce) JPA Joint Powers Authority JPA Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (Public Sevices Department of Malaysia) JPA Joint Powers Agreement (joint-powers agency), we are looking forward to having him join us.'' Jansen was serving his first two-year term as a Wyoming state legislator. He was up for re-election this year and was running unopposed. He said the move to Lancaster will put him and his wife closer to their daughter, who is in the Navy and stationed at Lemoore Naval Air Station A Naval Air Station is an airbase of the United States Navy.
