A.V. ROBOTICS TEAM SCORES BIG LANCASTER HIGH GETS INSPIRATION AWARD IN REGIONALS.

LANCASTER - Lancaster High School's Eagle Robotics robotics, science and technology of general purpose, programmable machine systems. Contrary to the popular fiction image of robots as ambulatory machines of human appearance capable of performing almost any task, most robotic systems are anchored to fixed positions  team won the Regional Engineering Inspiration award, the second-highest honor, at the annual FIRST Championship held April 1 in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

The Engineering Inspiration award is given to the team that succeeds in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers within the community. The award will give the team a berth at the national competition hosted by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science Technology) scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at the Georgia Dome Atlanta Falcons
    [
 in Atlanta.

``I am really proud of our team's success this year,'' said team manager Alan Tepe. ``We have worked hard and now we have recognition from our peers.''

With more than 40 teams attending the regional, the team's robot, ``TnT,'' placed third.

A total of 340 robotics teams and 8,500 students are expected to attend the national competition this week, putting their robots to the test in games that include firing foam balls through hoops, plowing the balls into floor goals and programing a robotic ro·bot·ic
