A.V. MAN ARRESTED IN WEAPONS SPREE BULLET SLAMS INTO MOBILE HOME'S WINDOW.

LANCASTER - A Quartz Hill man who was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly firing a rifle at a mobile-home park's parking lot lights was found to have a cache of weapons, ammunition This article is largely based on the article in the out-of-copyright 11th edition of the Encyclopdia Britannica, which was produced in 1911. One bullet traveled several blocks over a preschool and a church before hitting the window of a home and lodging in a piece of furniture, deputies said.

``It could have been a real tragedy considering there were several weapons and the heavy concentration of residents in that mobile-home park,'' said Deputy Mark Round of the Lancaster sheriff's station. ``Fortunately no one was injured in·jure

Jeffrey Higginson, 42, arrested at his home near the Quartz Hill Mobile Home Park, was booked on suspicion of discharging a firearm firearm, device consisting essentially of a straight tube to propel shot, shell, or bullets by the explosion of gunpowder. Residents at the Quartz Hill Mobile Home park called 911 about 4 p.m. to report that someone was shooting in their direction. When deputies arrived, they surrounded a home where Higginson was believed to be firing from, located in the 5800 block of Travis Paul Drive..

Higginson surrendered without incident.

Inside the home, deputies found about 50 firearms This is an extensive list of small arms — pistol, machine gun, grenade launcher, anti-tank rifle — that includes variants.

While deputies were investigating, they learned that a bullet had hit a home several blocks way.

Officials said they believe that Higginson may have been a former reserve law enforcement officer but are unsure with which agency. Palmdale and Lancaster sheriff's stations officials say Higginson was not one of their former reservists.
