A.V. FAIR ON THE HORIZON : PARADE TO BEGIN 11 DAYS OF SUMMER-ENDING BASH.

For 1996, the fair will offer a diverse entertainment lineup, daily parades and free concerts.

To help launch the fair's 11-day run will be the annual fair parade down Lancaster Boulevard on Aug. 24, celebrating the theme, ``Harvest Moons and Country Tunes.''

``What we are doing that's special is putting the ceremony back in the festival,'' fair spokesman Jimmy Greenleaf said. ``We will have parades every day inside the fair led by area high school bands. What we are doing is trying to make the festival the way it was originally, farmers getting together to celebrate the year.''

The fair will run from Aug. 23 to Sept. 2 at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. , 155 E. Ave. I. For more information, call (805) 948-6060.

Fairgrounds admission is the same as last year: $5 for adults and $3 for children and senior citizens. Children under 6 are admitted free. On Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894. , Sept. 2, admission will be $2.

The fair also will have special cost-cutting admission programs. A season pass, good for the fair's run, has been reduced from $45 to $25. A one-day family pass for two adults and two children will be offered for $10. A pack of four adult admissions will be offered for $15.

The concert lineup this year will feature pop, country, gospel and big band sounds. Concert tickets go on sale at the fairgrounds July 13.

The Redman Grandstand series will start off with the pop group Air Supply on Aug. 23, and the husband and wife team of Waylon Jennings Waylon Arnold Jennings (June 15 1937 – February 13 2002) was a respected and influential American country music singer and musician. A self-taught guitar player, he rose to prominence as a bass player for Buddy Holly following the break-up of The Crickets.  and Jessi Colter Jessi Colter (born May 25, 1943) is perhaps best known as the wife of fellow musical "Outlaw" Waylon Jennings.

However, for a brief period of time in the 1970s, she was one of Country Music's best-selling artists in her own right, acclaimed for her million-selling 1975
 on Aug. 24. Ticket prices are $15 and $12.

The concert series will continue with two free programs. On Aug. 27, the gospel group Point of Grace will perform in the grandstand. On Aug. 28, the fair will host Les Brown and His Band of Renown.

On Aug. 29 and Aug. 30, the fair will hold rodeos. Tickets are $10 and $6.

Tickets for the remaining events of the grandstand are $10 and $8. Those events include the traditional Rural Olympics competition, Aug. 31; the monster truck rally, also Aug. 31; the figure 8 car races, Sept. 1; and the demolition derby, Sept. 2.

Free entertainment on the fairgrounds will include the Guess Who on Aug. 28; Creedence Clearwater Revisited Creedence Clearwater Revisited is a band that was formed in 1995, by former Creedence Clearwater Revival bassist and drummer - Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, respectively. The band  on Aug. 29; Rob Hammand on Aug. 30; Randy Meisner, former band member of The Eagles on Aug. 31; Three Dog Night on Sept. 1; and the Smokin' Armadillos on Sept. 2.

Beginning July 15, at 15 area McDonald's restaurants from Santa Clarita to Tehachapi, people can buy regular admission tickets as well as some of the special discount passes, including the one-day family pass, the adult discount pack, and the $12 carnival ride wristbands.
