 Fair officials are asking people to submit suggestions for the 2007 fair theme, centered on the idea of flowers.

``Given how much the Antelope Valley and our fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  has `blossomed,' we feel a theme that can be demonstrated with flowers makes sense,'' fairgrounds spokeswoman Wendy Bozigian said.

Entries should be five words or less and are not required to rhyme rhyme or rime, the most prominent of the literary artifices used in versification. Although it was used in ancient East Asian poetry, rhyme was practically unknown to the ancient Greeks and Romans.  or include the word ``flower.'' Multiple theme ideas can be submitted per entry.

The deadline for theme entries is Oct. 16. Entry forms can be downloaded at www.avfair.com. Entries not on a form can be mailed, faxed, e-mailed or dropped off at the fair administration offices. In addition to the theme, all entries must include a name, phone number and e-mail address See Internet address.

Fairgrounds directors will select the winning entry and announce the winning theme Oct. 30. The theme will be used for the entire year at the fairgrounds, rather than just during the 11-day fair.

The theme winner will ride in the annual fair parade, receive a parking pass and two tickets to all concerts and arena entertainment and be invited to the annual kick-off dinner held in August. Additionally, the winner also receives passes to the Bridal Show in January and the Home Show in March.
