The ``It Takes a Village'' dinner will provide information from a variety of agencies that offer help to expectant EXPECTANT. The Best Babies Collaborative consists of dozens of organizations and agencies, including the Antelope Valley Partners for Health, the Black Infant Health Program, Antelope Valley Network for Healthy Families, Antelope Valley Hospital, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County health officials and churches.

Antelope Valley's infant mortality rate was 9.7 per 1,000 live births in 2003, the most recent year for which full statistics are available. The overall Los Angeles County rate was 5.4 deaths per 1,000 live births.

The valley's infant mortality rate for some ethnic and racial groups was even higher: 11.3 in 2003 among Latinos, and 16.5 for African-Americans.

The valley's African-American infant mortality rate was 32.7 in 2002.
