Among the military personnel expected to be on hand are members of the California National Guard The California National Guard is the component of the United States National Guard in the U.S. state of California. It comprises both Army and Air National Guard components. Company B of the 185th Armor Regiment's 1st Battalion. The company, based in Palmdale, returned in March from duty in Iraq. ``I want to personally thank the communities for the support my unit has seen,'' said Capt. Jim Westerfield, the unit's commander. ``I don't have the eloquence to tell how powerful it is to see how our communities support us. That really helps keep you going.'' Officials are asking businesses and organizations to participate in the banner effort. Plans call for each business or organization to provide a banner of a minimum of 32 square feet and with a red, white, and blue theme, and $200, which will go toward marketing the event.
