A.V. COLLEGE STUDENTS GET $60,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS.

LANCASTER - More than $60,000 in scholarships was given to this year to Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  students.

The money went to 107 students to continue their studies at Antelope Valley College and other institutions.

The scholarships were announced at the May 12 scholarship convocation held in the college's Fine Arts Quad. The Antelope Valley College Foundation and Southern Calfirnia Edison sponsored the convocation.

The college's annual commencement will be held at 9 a.m. today at Lancaster Municipal Stadium. More than 680 students are scheduled to graduate with associate in arts or associate in science degrees.

Commencement speaker will be administrative law judge administrative law judge n. a professional hearing officer who works for the government to preside over hearings and appeals involving governmental agencies. They are generally experienced in the particular subject matter of the agency involved or of several agencies.  Dana LaMon.

Scholarships came from 44 community organizations, individuals and scholarship funds.

One of the newest scholarships was the Michelle O'Keefe Memorial Scholarship, a $500 award to Kathryn L. Zelenski, a cheerleader who plans to continue her education at a university.

The award was named in memory of O'Keefe, a former high school cheerleader and AVC (1) (Advanced Video Coding) The video compression techniques used in the H.264 standard, jointly developed by ISO and the ITU-T. See H.264.

 Aircraft Division and Lockheed Martin both funded four $500 scholarships to engineering and math majors.

Recipients of the Boeing scholarships were William Dunn, Shawnta McClimans, Eric Stiers and Jeff Woolford. Lockheed scholarships went to Jared Burton, Omar Cabrera Jr., Angelito Miranda and Nathan Whitehead.
