The Antelope Valley Master Chorale will hold a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd.

``Choral Showcase'' will mix folk music, Broadway selections, popular songs and light classics, said Antelope Valley College public relations director Steve Standerfer.

Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $7 for those under 18 and can be purchased in person by visiting the center box office.

``The program will include such popular songs as `My Heart Will Go On' from the movie `Titanic' and `All I Ask of You' from the Broadway musical `The Phantom of the Opera,' '' Standerfer said. ``Also featured will be accompanist Mary Zimmerman, other instrumentalists and the Antelope Valley Children's Choir, directed by Joe Montgomery.''

A ``curtain raiser'' preconcert lecture about the music will be held in the LPAC lobby at 7:15 p.m., Standerfer said.

LANCASTER - The Antelope Valley College Theatre Arts Department will perform the play ``Baby With the Bathwater'' on May 21-23 at the campus Blackbox Theatre 300.

Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 8 p.m. and the Sunday performance will be at 7 p.m.

``This biting and satiric black comedy by one of our most provocative and inventive comic playwrights takes humorous aim at parenthood,'' said theatre arts director Rick Roemer.

All tickets for the play are $5.

Also at the college, friends and colleagues of nursing professional Emily Pack are invited to attend a retirement reception in her honor from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday in Room 102 of the AVC Student Services Building.

Pack, who spent 39 years in the profession, has announced that her retirement will be effective at the end of the spring semester.

LANCASTER - The Antelope Valley High School Band Boosters continue to seek community donations and business sponsors to fund an upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.

About 120 members of the Antelope Valley Brigade band and color guard plan to march July 4 in the National Independence Day Parade, said band director Joseph Pincetich.

Boosters need to raise a total of about $80,000 for trip expenses, he said.

Local businesses or community members are welcome to act as sponsors for the trip, Pincetich said.

Boosters have been busy over the past several months on a variety of fund-raisers such as candy, cheese and candle sales.
