A.M. Best Co. has released new and completely revised risk classifications as part of the 2003 edition of Best's Underwriting Guide. Published since 1974, Best's Underwriting Guide offers detailed descriptions of more than 500 commercial and industrial risk classifications. This comprehensive guide allows users to quickly become familiar with every aspect of a risk and evaluate exposure in all applicable lines of insurance.

New and revised classifications are released quarterly. Updates released in the first two quarters of 2003 include:

-- Apparel Manufacturing

-- Box Manufacturing - Paperboard

-- Bus Charter Services

-- Clothing Stores

-- Credit Reporting Agencies (including Credit Bureaus)

-- Department Stores This is a list of department stores. In the case of department store groups the location of the flagship store is given. This list does not include large specialist stores, which sometimes resemble department stores.  

-- Electrical Appliance Stores

-- Food Distributors

-- Health Food Stores

-- Model and Hobby Shops

-- Pet Shops

-- Stadiums, Arenas and Racetracks

-- Supermarkets and Grocery Stores

-- Tour Operators

-- Wineries

In addition, new articles on Domestic Cleaning Services, Mail Systems Management Companies, Sightseeing Operations, Riggers and Millwrights have been issued to subscribers in 2003.

The third release of Best's Underwriting Guide is planned for August and will include revisions for:
