The ratings reflect GMACI's excellent capitalization, consistently solid operating results, well-established market presence as one of the top 35 property/casualty insurers in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. In addition, the rating considers the group's diversification outside traditional General Motors (GM)-related businesses, particularly its well-established presence in the nonstandard non·stan·dard
