This reprint of a collection of seven articles that originally appeared in the Saturday Evening Post in 1927 provides an in- the-trenches perspective on World War I by the commander of the 41st Division, 1st Army Corps, American Expeditionary Forces The American Expeditionary Forces or AEF was the United States military force sent to Europe in World War I.

The AEF fought alongside allied forces against imperial German forces.

The book includes maps and photos of the Western front, and concludes with a final salute The Final Salute is an informal form of saluting performed by Aircraft pilots particularly in the Air Force. Even though many various Air Forces of countries use salutes which are similar to the British Army (i.e.  to General Liggett.
