for die cutting and pressure adhesive applications to form a revolutionary new low-cost, high-security hologram.

A.D. TECH's invention enables the creation of unique holographic labels consisting of logos and text, to be used in products such as pharmaceutical packaging, compact discs (CDs), checks, credit cards, lottery tickets, clothing, coupons and virtually any brand name product. The company announced on Feb. 22 at the Product & Image Security Conference in Amsterdam, sponsored by Cowise, that it has acquired exclusive rights for proprietary dyed polyester film from Courtaulds Performance Films that, combined with A.D. TECH's proprietary PMP process, enhance this revolutionary, new product. Under the terms of the agreement, A.D. TECH will purchase the dyed polyester film from Martinsville, Virginia-based Courtaulds, and convert it to the new low-cost, high-security hologram.

Glenn J. Walters, president of A.D. TECH, said this new product allows companies who previously did not purchase cost-prohibitive security holograms to now afford them. "Worldwide, the counterfeiting problem cost $200 billion last year. Until now, the high cost of holographic labels has severely limited their use to thwart counterfeiting. But this invention dramatically lowers cost while actually increasing the degree of difficulty in counterfeiting," Walters said. "Additionally, our new product is unique because it has the `look' of an expensive holographic label but with lower production costs."

Walters added, "Our new hologram will cost at least 25 percent less than similar products, allowing the middle market to finally begin using security tags with graphic appeal on their products. We believe the market potential for our product is two times greater than the current size of the high end of the security hologram market, or $400 million."

A.D. TECH is a technology leader in developing and manufacturing high-resolution, patterned, vacuum-metallized coatings for a variety of energy-management applications -- including microwave food packaging, authentication holograms, electronic article surveillance See EAS.  tags, electrostatic discharge materials, microwave sterilization devices, retroreflective films and solar protective films -- using the company's proprietary metallization process including a new Pattern Metallization Printing ("PMP") process.
