Background/Responsibilities: As CEO, Rand oversees all aspects of the company including its advocacy activities in Washington, D.C., membership engagement, and AARP-branded products and services. He enjoyed a 30-year career at Xerox, starting out as a sales representative and moving up to executive vice president for worldwide operations. He left to become chairman and CEO of Avis Group in 1999, and later served as chairman and CEO of Equitant, Inc. in 2003 until he retired in 2005. He serves on several organizations' boards, including Howard University since 2002, Campbell Soup Co. since 2005, and at Agilent Technologies Inc. since 2000.

Rand received a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from American University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
