A-K-A's New Smart Logic Module Gets Designs to Market Fast.

Miniaturized SOM Allows You to 'Port and Go'

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Advanced Knowledge Associates (AKA) - the leaders in miniaturized, reconfigurable, fully self-contained and high-performance system-on-module (SOM) technology - today launched the LM125, a compact logic module designed to enable systems designers to get to market simply and quickly. Based around a high density FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market.  fabric and employing a uBlaze soft CPU CPU
 in full central processing unit

Principal component of a digital computer, composed of a control unit, an instruction-decoding unit, and an arithmetic-logic unit.
core from Xilinx, the LM125 incorporates 256Mb of SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  and 512Mb of flash to handle multiple boot images for logic and software applications, while supporting a wide variety of standard interfaces.

The LM125 has a modular architecture which facilitates the simple integration of user logic and custom peripheral sets. On board programmable clock generation, voltage regulation and power monitoring further ease system integration. More, because it is based on programmable logic technology from the world's the leading FPGA manufacturer (Spartan IIE See Apple II.  from Xilinx) the LM125 enables great system flexibility.

Comments Guy Marom, President, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and Founder of AKA: "Customers can simply port their application to the LM125 and have their system up and running, reducing development time by weeks or months. More, because of the module's small footprint, system size can often be substantially reduced."

Measuring just 2x2in, the LM125 supports the Linux operating system. Standard interfaces include Dual 1553RT, Dual CAN, Dual RS232, USB USB
 in full Universal Serial Bus

Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer.
and Ethernet 10/100 BT, and the LM125 also offers over 200 high speed general purpose I/Os. AKA modules are suitable for applications including military and defense, medical, industrial and high end telecoms.
