ONE of the thoughts that may cross your mind as you look through this week's People is the huge variety of sports that are covered.

The great pictures from the Middlesbrough Primary Schools' Cross Country Championship on Pages 28 and 29 represent just one of eight sports you'll find featured this week.

And that doesn't include Your School on Pages 22 and 23 where Zetland Primary School in Redcar look to be having a whale of a time in their after-school gym club.

They are jumping, moving, rolling and generally throwing themselves around - no couch potatoes there then.

And isn't it great to see such happy faces while they're working out?

We hear so much every time we turn on the radio, open a newspaper or watch the television about fears for the health of the youngsters in our lives because levels of obesity are rising.

If our young folk on Teesside are anything to go by there seems to be many reasons to be cheerful and optimistic about their future health.

Let's hope they take these good habits with them as they grow up.

And we haven't forgotten the talents of adults in this week's edition.

To the right we have Wendy Duckers celebrating her 40th birthday in style.

On Pages 24 and 25 there are pictures of six couples who have tied the knot recently plus the wedding of the week which shows how the big day went for James Burns
For other people named Burns, see Burns (disambiguation).

James W. Burns is a Director Emeritus at the Power Corporation of Canada. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada.

The photographic talents of Teessiders also have a chance to shine - on Page 29 this week.

We know our readers notice these excellent pictures because they tell us!

Of course, the reason that we have so many positive stories to tell in our People supplement is because YOU tell us.
