 fiance has provided the key to the case against Jack Abramoff Jack Abramoff (born February 28, 1959) is a former American political lobbyist, a Republican political activist and businessman who was a central figure in a series of high-profile political scandals.  and ultimately the one against Tom DeLay. It seems that Michael Scanlon Michael Scanlon is a former communications director for Rep. Tom DeLay, lobbyist, and public relations executive who has plead guilty to corruption charges and is currently assisting in the investigation of his former partners Jack Abramoff, Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed by , DeLay's top staff connection to Abramoff, had planned to marry another DeLay staff member, Emily Miller. After they got engaged, according to The Wall Street Journal, "Scanlon bought a $4.7 million oceanside mansion and guest house, formerly part of the DuPont Estate in Rehoboth Beach, Del ... furnished it down to the monogrammed towels" and told his bride-to-be it would be theirs. Then, adds the Journal, with the wedding a few months away, he called it off and started dating a 24-year-old waitress.

Emily Miller was not delighted by this development. So when prosecutors sought her help in building a case against Scanlon, she said sure. Now Scanlon has been indicted INDICTED, practice. When a man is accused by a bill of indictment preferred by a grand jury, he is said to be indicted.  and has agreed to cooperate with the prosecutors, as has another DeLay staffer, Tony Rudy.
