Delve into an explosion of colour and imagination at a surreal, must-see exhibition Art lovers will be transported to a colourful and imaginative world at a unique exhibition at Emirates Towers Boulevard. 'Beyond Imagination' is a display of work from two of the world's foremost surrealist artists; Tomek Setowski and Daniel Merriam. Although they hail from different backgrounds, the Polish and American craftsmen are joined in their passion for an art form that is extremely unusual. Not many artists in the world paint in the 'magical realism' genre, so to find two together here in Dubai is a real treat. Setowski, who is known worldwide as one of the most prominent representatives of the style, uses fairy tale characters, underwater worlds, sky cities, beautiful women and manifestations of his dreams as the main inspiration for his work. He still lives in Poland where he works from his own gallery. The breakthrough in Setowski's career was in 1998 when Stricoff Fine Arts, one of New York's finest galleries, was looking for a new, promising artist with an original style of painting. From a group of several dozen artists, Setowski was chosen. Today, Setowski has his own brand and exhibits under his 'Museum of Imagination'. His work can also be found in Stricoff and InterArt galleries in New York. Merriam, who is a watercolour painter, has captured the hearts of collectors worldwide. His paintings are dreams in full colour, inviting the viewer to join a journey into his colourful imagination. Born in Maine, USA, Merriam taught himself to paint at a very young age and studied mechanical and architectural design at university. He has produced paintings for the covers of books and theatre programmes and had his work displayed in galleries across America and Europe. While over here, both artists will be delivering lectures to fine art students at the American University. Their exhibition will be held from December 3-6 at Emirates Towers Boulevard where the paintings will be displayed in the corridors. The artists will be at the exhibition every day to sign books, brochures and posters. As part of the event, acclaimed jewellery designer, Rula Abu Khadra, will also be displaying her artistic and eclectic collection of rare vintage jewels.
