player, Cogdon is proving a real handful for defenders, having hit 18 goals already this season as the club push for another promotion.
Cogdon, 25, spent five seasons as a youngster at Sunderland's academy, and was unlucky not be awarded a professional contract by the club.
And after a spell with Sunderland Nissan, he joined Durham in the summer.
He said: "After two very good years at Sunderland Nissan, I wanted to try my hand at a higher level of football, and I am really enjoying playing for Durham.
"I was obviously disappointed not to make it as a pro with Sunderland, but that is in the past now."
Cogdon now works for Sunderland City Council during the week, and is not the only top-notch striker in the Durham squad.
Manager Lee Collings has a wealth of attacking talent to chose from, and there is a real battle on to become the club's top scorer this season.
