Could there be an AIDS vaccine available before the end of this decade? Some scientists think so. Researchers announced at the sixth International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific in October that they are optimistic that an AIDS vaccine will be available in the next six to 10 years. However, they also said that the first vaccine would likely not be 100% effective and could be so expensive that developing countries would be hard-pressed to pay for it.
