A tribute to those who have fallen and to those who still serve.

I AM writing in remembrance of Lance Sergeant Tobie Fasfous, 29, and Lance Corporal Dane Elson, both from Pencoed.

In recognition of their deaths their names have been placed upon the Pencoed War Memorial by the town council.

Here I would like to add my contribution to all those serving in Afghanistan, or whichever nation.

The following is dedicated to my former regiment The Welsh Guards: Soldier's Creed I am a Welsh soldier I am a warrior and a member of a team, I serve the people of my country and live the Army value.

I always place the mission first.

I never accept defeat, quit or leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined physically, mentally tough, trained in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional.

I stand ready to deploy, engage and destroy the enemy of my country in close combat.

I am a guardian of freedom and the Welsh way of life.
