A tree grows ... in Times Square.


Trees, rolling lawns and ornamental grasses soon will adorn the crossroads of the world Designed by Robert V. Derrah and built in 1936, the Crossroads of the World has been called America's first modern shopping mall. Located on Sunset Boulevard and Las Palmas in Los Angeles, the mall features a central building designed to resemble an ocean liner surrounded by a , but only at 1600 Broadway on the Square, the first luxury condominium in Times Square.

, will include rolling lawns with trees abutting a glass parapet, Ipe wood decking and black slate pavers. A serpentine wall on which one can sit will wrap around the building. The terrace will also include a putting green on synthetic turf.

Complementing the terrace on the fourth floor is Club on the Square, which contains a state-of-the-art fitness center; entertainment lounge with plasma television, bar and billiards billiards, any one of a number of games played with a tapered, leather-tipped stick called a cue and various numbers of balls on a rectangular, cloth-covered slate table with raised and cushioned edges. ; virtual golf; vending services; and fully equipped business center. The building also features a rooftop observatory, complete with furnished seating areas, telescopes, sunning areas and an outdoor shower.
