Peter Wignall, managing director of The Workplace Travel Plan Company said: "We are delighted to have been chosen to act as the Team Valley's first travel plan co-ordinator. The initiative is about the long term development of the more sustainable forms of travel. It's a grand challenge, but local for us so we know the players and community. Similarly, the company is involved with similar schemes in different parts of the country, from where we will seek to bring home best practice."

A physical travel centre will complement the virtual support given. This will start in Maingate, but move to a more central and prominent position as premises opportunities and funding permits.

Peter Wignall added: "We don't underestimate the task. Team Valley employs over 21,000 people full and part time, with a significant population of shoppers and students.
