If you are a member, you know that the magazine is a welcomed monthly information source. If the association and the magazine are new to you, let me tell you a little about both.

The AMI is a national nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

 trade association that represents commercial mushroom growers, processors, buyers, shippers, researchers and others involved in services and supplies for the mushroom farm community. The AMI Board reviews the activities of committees, sets the budget and makes decisions on projects to pursue. We provide a variety of group health plans to members and their companies. AMI staff members assess the on-going legislative and regulatory issues in Washington that can provide good or bad news to our members. Immigration reform Immigration reform is the common term used in political discussions regarding changes to immigration policy. In a certain sense, reform can be general enough to include promoted, expanded, or open immigration, but in reality discussions of reform often deal with the aspect of , pesticide registration, import reports, grants writing and guidance are a few of the projects that AMI takes on to make life better for U.S. mushroom growers.

Mushroom News is the primary communications tool of our trade association and enlightens members of important information and upcoming events. The magazine conveys the work of the association including grower education meetings, pesticide alternatives, nutritional and medicinal enhancement of mushrooms, worker protection updates and legislative and regulatory news and notes. Articles from national and international scientists provide general interest on the latest technical innovations. , labor relations, packaging and food safety are standard features. Regular monthly advertisers show off unique products, alert growers to new services and suggest innovative solutions to common problems.

If you are attending the 19th NAMC, you obviously have an interest in the mushroom industry.
