The invitation is open to the public, so anyone can nominate nom·i·nate tr.v. nom·i·nat·ed, nom·i·nat·ing, nom·i·nates 1. To propose by name as a candidate, especially for election. 2. To designate or appoint to an office, responsibility, or honor. anybody. The deadline is Jan. 16, 2004. As always, however, we request that nominees meet the following criteria: His or her business must be independently operated: at least 5 years old; 51% black-owned; generate annual revenue of at least. $250,000 (but no more than $15 million); show a pattern of increasing revenue for the two years preceding the application; and have a minimum of three employees. The only exception to this criteria is the nomination for the BE Teenpreneur Award, given to entrepreneurs 18 years of age or younger. The winners will be recognized in four categories at our BE Entrepreneurs Conference Awards Gala Dinner. Those categories include BE Emerging Company of the Year, BE Business Innovator of the Year, BE Rising Star Award, and BE Teenpreneur Award. Winners will also be featured in the magazine (see "Leading the Pack." this issue, for brief profiles of this year's winners). It isn't too late to nominate someone for an award, and it isn't too early to register to attend the Conference, scheduled for May 12-16, 2004, at. the Wyndham Anatole hotel in Dallas.
