A time for giving.JENNINGS Motor Group has kick-started the Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal by being the first company to donate gifts for this year's campaign. James added: "This time of year, however, is the most difficult and challenging of all as they have thousands of people they need to assist in order to make their Christmas extra special." This year, the Salvation Army will be celebrating its 33rd Appeal and is the largest of its kind in the region. Major Marion Mountain, divisional community services officer for the Salvation Army, said: "We are delighted with the continued support we receive from Jennings Motor Group and look forward to another successful Appeal for the Salvation Army." As in previous years, the Salvation Army will not only be assisting local authority social services social services Noun, pl welfare services provided by local authorities or a state agency for people with particular social needs social services npl → servicios mpl sociales departments, but also many other charities and agencies that call upon them to assist with their needs this Christmas. Jennings Motor Group is urging staff, customers and members of the public to support the appeal by taking gifts, including new toys for children and gifts for teenagers, gifts for the elderly, non-perishable food or donations to any of its Mazda, Ford and SEAT dealerships across the region. This year's appeal runs until Friday, December 18. Last year, the appeal helped almost 1,600 families, which included providing toys for more than 4,340 children. In addition almost 50 homeless people were given accommodation over Christmas, more than 200 elderly people received gifts and 991 food parcels were distributed. Tees Valley The Tees Valley is an area the North East of England.
