JENNINGS Motor Group has kick-started the Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal by being the first company to donate gifts for this year's campaign.

 consecutive year, Jennings Motor Group has stepped in to support the appeal by agreeing to use its Mazda, Ford and SEAT branch network throughout the region as drop off points for staff or members of the public who want to donate to the Appeal.

James added: "This time of year, however, is the most difficult and challenging of all as they have thousands of people they need to assist in order to make their Christmas extra special."

This year, the Salvation Army will be celebrating its 33rd Appeal and is the largest of its kind in the region.

Major Marion Mountain, divisional community services officer for the Salvation Army, said: "We are delighted with the continued support we receive from Jennings Motor Group and look forward to another successful Appeal for the Salvation Army."

 departments, but also many other charities and agencies that call upon them to assist with their needs this Christmas.

Jennings Motor Group is urging staff, customers and members of the public to support the appeal by taking gifts, including new toys for children and gifts for teenagers, gifts for the elderly, non-perishable food or donations to any of its Mazda, Ford and SEAT dealerships across the region.

This year's appeal runs until Friday, December 18. Last year, the appeal helped almost 1,600 families, which included providing toys for more than 4,340 children. In addition almost 50 homeless people were given accommodation over Christmas, more than 200 elderly people received gifts and 991 food parcels were distributed.

Tees Valley The Tees Valley is an area the North East of England. It can be described as "greater Teesside" and consists of the four unitary authorities created by the breakup of the County of Cleveland in 1996: Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, and Stockton-On-Tees along with  Jennings branches can be found at Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough and Yarm Road, Stockton.
