A team of Kishwaukee College (Malta, Ill.) horticulture students competed in the 4th Annual Green Industry Challenge held at Joliet Junior College and placed in several categories, including two first-place finishes.

A team of Kishwaukee College Kishwaukee College is a community college located in Malta, Illinois, just west of DeKalb, Illinois. The college was founded in 1968, and is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The student population is approximately 11,000.  (Malta, Ill.) horticulture students competed in the 4th Annual Green Industry Challenge held at Joliet Junior College Joliet Junior College, the nation’s first public community college, offers pre-baccalaureate programs for students planning to transfer to a four-year university. A comprehensive community college, Joliet Junior College (JJC) provides occupational education leading directly  and placed in several categories, including two first-place finishes. Eight teams from horticulture programs at two-and four-year institutions participated in the challenge, which consists of competitions in nine horticulture categories: paver installation, maintenance equipment operation, annual and perennial plant identification, woody plant identification, landscape plan reading and estimating, landscape design, skid steer operation, arboriculture arboriculture

In addition to the competition, the Green Industry Challenge offers students an opportunity to meet other horticulture students from across the state and network with green industry professionals at the career fair.
