A taste of the Sweet life at Four seasons caviar bar.Located in the lobby of one of Manhattan's premier luxury hotels, Calvisius, the new caviar bar at the Four Seasons Hotel New York, is a venue worthy of its elegant surroundings. Designed by James D'Auria Associates, PC Architects, Calvisius is the first concept site in the United States, and one of many high-end projects built by Sweet Construction Corporation. Similar work in progress includes the Omega flagship store for The Swatch Group USA, and The Setai, New York, the soon-to-be-completed 30-story luxury hotel and condominium complex in Manhattan's financial district. At Calvisius, the contrast of natural design elements with the opulence of polished finishes and stainless steel creates an atmosphere of refined simplicity. Ebony-stained Makassar wood wall panels, cabinetry, and showcases emanate richness and warmth, while limestone flooring and subtle ambient lighting enhance the mood without distraction. The distinct luster of reflective glass and metal display shelving, lacquered wood, stainless steel equipment and culinary surfaces, and custom onyx table tops en suite adds cool sophistication, creating a look of uncluttered contemporary elegance. New mechanical systems, recessed ceiling lighting, and state-ofthe-art catering equipment quietly ensure functionality without interference. Modest in dimension but immense in presence, Calvisius is a foremost example of the 'small package' adage, and therein lay the challenge: encompassing just 300 square feet, the space would physically allow for work by only a few trades at a time. As all work was to be performed during regular working hours, proper coordination was vital to timely prqiect completion. Additionally, the hotel remained fully operational during the construction period; in consideration of active meeting rooms located directly below the construction area, noise and vibrationcreating activities were restricted to periods during which the rooms were not occupied. Working within the established parameters, Sweet Construction completed the project on time, in less than eight weeks. In the realization of gracious design, Calvisius, like its proprietor, offers a supreme guest experience. Since its inception in 1912, Sweet Construction, having developed areas of specialization in retail, commercial, hospitality and restaurant work, has steadily eamed a reputation as an industry leader chosen by discerning ownership for sophisticated, architecturally refined projects in exclusive, high-profile environments. Notable examples: the recently completed Haunch of Venison New York at Christie's; showrooms and offices for Calvin Klein, Etro USA, and Lafayette 148; the award-winning restoration of the landmark Biltmore Theatre; and a multitude of projects at Bergdorf Goodman (Neiman Marcus). |
