The purpose of the study was to find out: (1) The attitude of the farm family units towards accepting and adopting new methods/practices of rice cultivation cultivation, tilling or manipulation of the soil, done primarily to eliminate weeds that compete with crops for water and nutrients. Cultivation may be used in crusted soils to increase soil aeration and infiltration of water; it may also be used to move soil to or  through irrigation; (2) The successes and failures on the part of development experts to accommodate the sentiments of rural women in their plans; (3) The division of labor in this new method of farming; and (4) The impact of the project on the already existing land tenure land tenure: see tenure, in law.  system. Ten men and ten women representatives from each of the five villages (100 total) in the project area participated in answering a questionnaire during the survey. The survey results revealed that women provided most of the labor inputs and have little or no training that can help improve their skills and overall development.
