A stimulating proposal.


One of the proposals under the economic stimulus packages being put forth in Congress is a provision for an immediate write-off of 50% for plant and equipment. Additional provisions would assist small businesses.

Competition overseas in many cases can depreciate depreciate v. in accounting, to reduce the value of an asset each year theoretically on the basis that the assets (such as equipment, vehicles or structures) will eventually become obsolete, worn out and of little value.
