Dr Margaret Allman-Farinelli, Editor of Nutrition & Dietetics, recently asked the following questions of Coral Colyer, Goodman Fielder Nutrition Services Manager

N&D: We would like our journal to be seen as part of the global network for publishing nutrition research, particularly in our region. Can you tell us about the involvement of Goodman Fielder in the Australasian food and nutrition community?

Goodman Fielder: Goodman Fielder is committed to producing and marketing foods which enhance the wellbeing and nutritional health of consumers, as well as to satisfy taste, variety, safety and other consumer needs. As part of our Nutrition Policy we support research into nutritional science for product innovation and promote the dissemination of health and nutrition advice. In doing this we need to work closely with the Australasian food and nutrition community via a number of strategic partners.

Supporting the dietetic profession is the foundation upon which our involvement with the food and nutrition community is built. We have a long history of association with both the Australian and New Zealand dietetic associations and teaching universities via conference and journal sponsorship, student placements, course development and student awards.

Looking to the broader food community and nutrition research area, some of the bodies we work with include Go Grains, Arbor Communications, CSIRO Health Sciences and Nutrition, the Nutrition Society of Australia, Nutrition Australia, the New Zealand Nutrition Foundation, Sports Dietitians Australia, Sydney University Nutrition Research Foundation and the heart foundations of Australia and of New Zealand.

N&D: Are there any new projects or products you would like to introduce to our readership?

Goodman Fielder: In 1992 Goodman Fielder led the food industry focus on nutrition and health through the development and implementation of the Goodman Fielder Nutrition Policy. This year we are relaunching our policy to bring it into line with new company direction and our commitment to producing and marketing foods that enhance the wellbeing and health of Australasian consumers, while still providing the variety and taste they demand.

We are renewing that longstanding commitment to nutrition in six key areas: consumers, research and technology, product development, manufacturing, regulations and our employees.
