Fr. Val Peters did admirable work at Girls and Boys Town Girls and Boys Town, formerly Boys Town and Father Flanagan's Boys' Home, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care of at-risk children, with national headquarters in the village of Boys Town, Nebraska. , but he errs when he calls adoptions by gay couples a "social experiment" that disregards the rights of children (Letters, April 21).  children are better off in a home with two loving parents than in an institution. One can support the programs of Girls and Boys Town while recognizing that what most children need is a "family"--however constituted--to love and nurture NURTURE. The act of taking care of children and educating them: the right to the nurture of children generally belongs to the father till the child shall arrive at the age of fourteen years, and not longer. Till then, he is guardian by nurture. Co. Litt. 38 b.  them.
