A second selectman won't seek re-election.

SPENCER - The chairman of the Board of Selectmen SELECTMEN. The name of certain officers in several of the United States, who are invested by the statutes of the several states with various powers.  has decided he will not run for re-election this spring.

 for the opportunity to serve," Vincent P. Cloutier said after last night's meeting, his first after suffering a bilateral bilateral /bi·lat·er·al/ (-lat´er-al) having two sides, or pertaining to both sides.

"The town needs leaders," he said.

Mr. Cloutier, 47, declined to say whether his health scare played a role in his decision, though he admitted it has affected the way he views things.

"It's given me a whole new outlook on life," he said.

Mr. Cloutier is the second member of the current board to announce he will not seek re-election.

John T. Gagnon said in January that he would not run again. He has served eight years and said then that he wants to give others a chance to run for the seat.

The annual town election is slated for May 13.
