A safety first for Wylfa N-plant.

Wylfa site director Greg Evans was presented with the sword at a ceremony in London's Goldsmiths Hall.

The award is one of only 40 presented each year and the first to be given to a UK nuclear power station.

The Wylfa site is owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body of the United Kingdom formed by the Energy Act 2004. It came into existence on 1 April 2005. Its purpose is to deliver savings in the decommissioning and clean-up of the UK’s civil nuclear legacy in  and operated by Magnox North, owned by Energy Solutions.

Mr Evans said: "Safety and human performance are at the very core of everything we do at Magnox North, so being recognised amongst the best companies in the world is very special.

"The British Safety Council audits, which are part of the awards process, gave Magnox North the opportunity to benchmark its culture of 'safe delivery' against organisations outside the nuclear industry."
