A record to be proud of; Your Shout.ONCE again the pious bleating of Cllr Stone (letters, October 9th). He and his Liberal colleagues suffer from selective memory, and a craving to claim credit for Labour Government programmes. A little history lesson to illustrate this point. This Labour Government has made significant public sector investment in both Newcastle and the North East in recent years, including pounds 350m supported borrowing for Decent Homes, pounds 240m for Building Schools for the Future Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the name of the UK Government's investment programme in secondary school buildings in England. The program is very ambitious in its costs, timescales and objectives, yet opposition politicians in the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats , pounds 300m for Newcastle Hospitals, over pounds 300m for Metro reinvigoration, pounds 54m of New Deal for Communities funding, pounds 80m for BNG BNG Bangladesh BNG Bloque Nacionalista Galego (Galician Nationalist Bloc, Spain) BNG Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten BNG Bump & Grind BNG Bob and George (webcomic) BNG Bermuda National Gallery and growth point initiatives. Science City status, the region identified as a local carbon economy area. I suggest that this is a record to be proud of, putting real investment into our communities and neighbourhoods It is spurious to claim the building of large numbers of council homes. What makes this even more incredible is that any house building is being led by YHN YHN Hornepayne, Ontario, Canada (Airport Code) YHN Your Humble Narrator , the very organisation this Liberal Democrat Liberal Democrat Noun a member or supporter of the Liberal Democrats, a British centrist political party that advocates proportional representation Liberal Democrat n (BRIT) → council voted against. It is through the Labour Government-created Homes and Communities Agency that finally there is some slight progress on the Scotswood regeneration, something which would never have occurred if left to this incompetent council. Instead of his usual bleats of protest he should acknowledge the huge investments made into Newcastle and rather actually concentrate on sorting out the failings of this city council of which the Audit Commission recently judged its regeneration performance as one star, with uncertain prospects for improvement.
