A pregnant pause from blockbusters.

Forget all those summer blockbusters. Some of us have been waiting for months to see "Knocked Up," and today is our chance.

We love "Grey's Anatomy," but you must know the trouble that can result when a television actress tries for big screen comedy. (See `Along Came Polly.') But "Knocked Up" is just a can't-lose film - the perfect escape from your own stressful life.

You, of course, are too responsible to get pregnant in a drunken romp, so you can enjoy what these characters must go through once Katherine Heigl (who plays an entertainment journalist in the film) finds herself in this predicament. Fun.

Also fun should be the Dan Jones and the Squids CD release party tonight at Sam Bond's. We are looking forward, in particular, to the "goofy dancing" Mr. Jones promises to deliver.

There are a couple of hip-hop events to check out, starting with the dance-centric "Down 4 It" tonight at the McDonald Theatre. Who doesn't enjoy watching people pull off a bunch of choreography that even with 10 weeks on "Dancing With the Stars," most of us would never be able to do?

It should be high energy entertainment. And there's the added benefit that ticket sales and food donations go to FOOD for Lane County.

Furthering a much different cause, the Oregon Bach Festival is attempting to lure more young ears into hip-hop harmony with Bach during the second annual Bach Remix event Saturday at the Oakway Center.

In a rematch from last year's event, three DJs will mix Bach with whatever other sounds they think will impress the judges and crowd.

Finally, R.I.P. Jo Federigo's. The venerable club closed its doors suddenly last week, leaving a hole in the jazz community. Luna and the Jazz Station are picking up some of the slack, each hosting weekly jazz jams on Wednesday and Thursday.
