A place in the world.

Your recent Editor's Letter. "Soul Traveling," [May/june] is excellent. Many of us identified with it, I am sure. When I happened to visit San Francisco as a junior in high school in the '50s, I was living in Richmond, Calif., and traveled the old Key System trains over the Oakland Bridge, But even then I knew that I would eventually have to return to live in San Francisco, although it took 30 more years to get here. At the time I was not aware of being gay; it was just a "sixth sense" that there was a kind of freedom that existed there for which I had been searching for, unawares. Many thanks for your thoughts on the subject,

PAUL WAGE San Mateo, Calif.
