A picture of unhappiness; Couple awarded pounds 2,000 damages for wedding photos disaster.

BRIDE Julie Lannon couldn't wait to see her wedding photos when she returned from honeymoon.

But when she opened the album she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

In two official snaps of her big day Julie is hidden away at the back behind bobbing bridesmaids and grinning guests.

And when Julie was pictured up-front, the romantic backdrops included a fire hydrant sign, an unidentified transit van and an uninvited un·in·vit·ed

guest dressed as a banana. Julie and accountant husband Harry refused to pay photographer Maurice Sims' pounds 400 bill. He took them to court.

But a judge threw his case out and ordered HIM to pay the newlyweds pounds 2,000 in compensation because the photos were so awful.

Julie, 30, said yesterday: "We couldn't believe our eyes.

"We had been worried about how the photos would turn out all the time we were on our honeymoon. But when we saw them they were even worse than we'd feared." She recalled how:

HER bridesmaids - all taller than her - were told to crouch down by snapper snapper, name for members of the Lutianidae, a family of spiny-finned food and game fishes found chiefly in tropical coastal waters. "They looked absolutely ridiculous, just like hunchbacks," Julie said.

THE only picture of confetti being thrown over the happy couple also includes the Banana Man. He was attending a Monster Raving Loony Party conference in the pub next door.

"Even the best man is almost totally hidden. It was a complete disaster. We'd saved up for two years for the wedding, which cost us more than pounds 5,500."

MIRRORMAN GAVIN'S VIEW: This should have been a pretty garden setting. Who put the transit van there? And why stick bride Julie between a couple of ugly tree branches? This one has me baffled.
