ARKANSAS LOST ONE OF ITS great journalists with the death last week

He was 80.
The memories of many of Fisher's cartoons are etched into the
minds of longtime Arkansans.
His drawings of the "Keep Busy" Army Corps of Engineers:
and their efforts to dam just about any moving water in the state were
among the first to grab major attention.
But others were equally popular; some are classics. The young Gov.

White signed as governor. And many of the state's notorious
politicians found themselves spending eternity in Fisher's
"Old Guard Rest Home."
We would be hard put to name the bylined reporters who covered
those events, but we'll never forget George Fisher's legacy of
cartoons that probably did as much as anything to influence the opinions
of politicians and citizens alike. He will be missed.
