A not-so-happy birthday?I was saddened to see the cartoon of Hugh Hefner Hugh Marston Hefner (born April 9, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois), also referred to colloquially as Hef,[1] is the founder, editor-in-chief, and Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises[2]. He is the majority owner of Playboy Enterprise Inc. in the May 8 issue with the caption, "Hugh Hefner is observing his 80th birthday--and our Roman Genn celebrates." Hefner's Playboy Enterprises Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: PLA), also organized as New Playboy, Inc. (NYSE: PLAA), is the company founded by Hugh Hefner to manage the Playboy magazine empire. It was created in 1953 as the HMH Publishing Co., Inc. has done nothing good for the human condition: It has only served that which is immoral, degrading, and dishonorable dis·hon·or·a·ble adj. 1.
