A QUARTER of Scots are good Samaritans who give up their free time to do voluntary work, the Executive have claimed.

Communities Minister Margaret Curran Margaret Curran can refer to:
  • Margaret Curran (politician) (born 1958), Scottish Labour Party member of the Scottish Parliament
  • Margaret E. Curran, United States Attorney for Rhode Island, 1998–2003
 made the claim during a parly debate to celebrate volunteering in the country.

She said: 'Volunteers persevere to build, to organise and to change things where many of us gave up years ago. They believe one person can make a difference and I wantus to celebrate that.'

But she admitted there were still big shortages.
