Korean-born, Minneapolis-raised Sonja Kostich got together with Alaskan native Brandi Norton and formed OTHERSHORE, a group that honors diversity within a contemporary aesthetic. Kostich has danced with ABT, San Francisco Ballet, and White Oak Dance Project; and Norton danced with Trisha Brown. Others in this group have danced with Bill T. Jones, Liz Lerman, White Oak Dance Project, Limon Dance Company, San Francisco Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, and the Royal Danish Ballet. For their debut concert, they've commissioned works by Big Dance Theater, Edwaard Liang, and Stacy Matthew Spence (also of Trisha Brown). Oct. 9-12 at Baryshnikov Arts Center. www.othershorenewyork.org.
